Questions About Acura Cars For Sale

Mark asks…

How much should I sale my 1992 acura legend for? Runs very well but a belt squeeks.beautiful, windows nonworkin

I am putting my acura legend 4 dr up for sale local. It is a pretty car. runs very well. The lock on the windows is broke off. new heads new timing belt good tires acura wheels good paint good inside. a belt squeeks. belt dressing does not help.I just noticed a tiny pin whole in a tiny hose above that belt leaking water. I see these cars sale for 3500 to $10,000. I need to sale mine quick though to get my son a car. What should I ask for it. He needs 2500 to get him a car.

admin answers:

Belts are very easy to replace. I dont recommend using an type of lubricant to stop the belt noise as if it get son your pulleys you can experience belt slipping which can ruin the belt. I suggest just buying a new belt and having it installed. The lock im guessing is a pop off and can be changed very easily and a new one can be bought at a auto parts store. I would start with a desired amount, if he needs $2500 ask for $3500 (or higher) and accept the best offer. Never go below the $2500

Sandy asks…

Army car sale Scam?

This is most likely a scam right? Guy claims to be in military going to Iraq and sells a car cheap. ex: 2005 Acura Rl for $4100 and only takes payment through a service like escrow

admin answers:

Definite scam. Don't contact or reply to them. The "escrow service" they are using is phony as is the whole deal. There is no car, no guy going to Iraq or anything else they have told you. All they want is access to your money.

Sandra asks…

why can't American car manufacturers get the message?

plants of american made cars are closing left and right due to the fact that people are finally catching on to the fact that american car makers are manufacturing crap!!

the japanese seem to be able to produce automobiles that actually last for more than a three to five year period without having serious defects which the american cars seem to be riddled with. Lexus, Acura, Honda, Toyota, Nissan, etc. are all good products, built to give good service for more than just a few years.

Can't say the same thing for General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, etc. When will the american car manufacturers finally get rid of that "building them cheaper is better" mentality????
I guess never.....that is why american car sales continue to spiral in a downward mode.

admin answers:

You're over simplifying teh situation. When was the last time you drove an American car? Obviously it's been a while. I'm tired of listening to people insult American cars when they haven't had an opportunityy to drive one made in the last 5 years. You say that American companies build crap. Did you know the highest rated manufacturing facility in terms of manufacturing efficiency is a GM plant in Oshawa, Ontario Canada. How about the fact that GM spent 60% less last year on warranty claims last year while Toyota's rose by 1 million vehicles.

Now I agree that Toyota builds some high quality products. But why is it that consumers think all Japanese cars from all Japanese manufacturers are better quality than all domestic vehicles? The Nissan Titan, Maxima, Altima and Armada all have questionable interior quality. The previous generation Honda Odyssey had transmission problems. The current generation Toyota Avalon has an alarming number of defects according to a recent article in Automotive News,

It's not a question of when American manufacturers will learn their lesson, they already have. Now it's a matter of when the American consumer will realize that domestic manufacturers are able to compete against the best in the world. You're missing out on some great products.

And FYI - it's not a American vs. Japanese fight. The Camry, Accord, Civic, Maxima, and many more are made here in North America. It's more of a UAW vs. Non UAW fight.

One final point. About $1500 from every domestic car sold goes to health care and pention plans for UAW members. Toyota, Honda, Nissan and others don't belong to the UAW and they don't want to. They know if they ever become part of the UAW they'd have the same problems that GM, Ford and Chrysler are facing.
