Questions About Acura Mdx 2012

Lizzie asks…

Acura MDX 2012 vs competition?

I am close to buying an MDX and want to hear from current owners. Pros & Con's and any other vehicles I should also consider before I purchase.

admin answers:

Acura MDx is a great overall suv in its class. It has 7 seats (although the back seats are very small). The only downfall of getting a 2012 acura mdx is that its in its final year of production, so there will most likely be a new model in 2013, and then the mdx will feel somewhat dated. Anyways other suvs to consider that are at the same level as the mdx include:
Lexus RX (Good gas mileage, bit smaller)
BMW X5 (Bit more pricey, but greater performance)
Infinit FX
Lexus GX (Bit more on gas, but much more spacious inside)
Honda Pilot (Not a luxury car, but still roomy inside, outside is not really nice though)
Lincoln MKX (ALthough you would be better off with a loaded Ford Edge since it is just rebadged and sold for more $$)
Audi Q7

Betty asks…

2009 acura mdx vs 2012 toyota highlander?

Both are brand new. The acura has never been owned but my parents are looking for a new car which would u prefer.

admin answers:

The ACURA all the way, the problem is the Toyota (4cyl model) is extremely underpowered, just check their specs, it has only 187 HPs (4cyl), even the V6 270 HPs are not match for the only offered engine on the MDX, a V6 with 300 HPs.

They are not cars for racing, however they weight a lot, so power/torque is important, you can use a car performance simulator to run test on them, try at http://www.nxgtrsim.com

Jenny asks…

What Car should I get? 2012 Acura MDX lease or buy certified pre owned 2009?

New lease is $517 per month for 36 month 12k per year with $25K residual. Or buy a preowned 2009 with 32,000 miles for $29,000. New MDX has 6 speed vs 5 speed engine and has ipod jack. That is the only difference I can see. I typically keep my cars 5-7 years but unsure of this one I've never owned an SUV. What to do?

admin answers:

I think leases are a waste of money if you tend to keep cars. The only justified reason to do it is if you: want a company car, want something fun to drive, or if change cars every four years. Considering your situation, with the monthly cost of the lease, you could own the 09. The minor differences aren't worth the costs.

At least if you own the suv, worrying about the caps on mileage and damages would be null. Dealers will kill you on overcharges at the end of the lease.

Steven asks…

I am thinking about purchasing a used 2008 Acura MDX....should I wait...?

So after driving many different SUV's out there I think I have decided on an Acura MDX. I have narrowed my search down to a 2008-2009 model. As I am looking right now, the average price I find with a technology package is around $28,000-$31,000. My question is, as I look on Acuras website, I notice that the 2012 model is due to hit the lots pretty soon. As 2012 year models become available, would this drop the price of the current 08 and 09's? I am trying to figure out if this could cause the price of a car to drop more than $1000. Thanks in advance for your insight.

admin answers:

Price of the car wouldn't change much but still expect so price drop, but since once the new MDX hit the lot, the old will also start hitting the lot, people want to trade in the old for new, so just want for a couple months and you will have more used MDX on the lot to choose fromat that time
