Questions About Acura Hatchback 2000

Lisa asks…

can you put a JDM K20A Type R Honda Accord / Acura TSX Engine Swap,on a 2000 honda civic hatchback dx?

admin answers:

Yes you could, its simple its called a K-series Swap in a EK civic.

It would be expensive and wouldnt pass california smog tho.

Sandy asks…

with $2000 can i make my 98 hatchback honda civic dx faster than a 99 acura integra gsr?

admin answers:

YES! You absolutely can make it faster than a GS-R...if your engine is in good condition. You'll need to do a compression check and possibly a leakdown test, to make sure it's healthy enough to handle more power. You'll have to turbocharge the engine. Don't expect a big amount of horsepower, but you could easily make 200-220 whp with a simple DIY/homemade turbo kit. Junkyards, classified sections of message boards, ebay, craigslist, swap meets, and local classified ads in newspapers or auto/auto parts trader magazines are your best friend. You can easily find used parts for cheap. And 200whp is more than enough to beat a GS-R with basic bolt-ons, and even aftermarket camshafts.

Check out these websites and do a LOT of research. Seriously, the more you learn, the more you realize how little you know, and how much more there is to know. Research, research, research.

Is it OK to use synthetic oil in my Integra?

I have a 2000 acura integra LS hatchback with 87000 miles on it. Is it ok or even preferred to used use synthetic oil or a blend?

admin answers:

Depending upon the severity of your Winter's and If your car sits outdoors ant length of time, the switch to a full synthetic motor oil would be a smart move. Full synthetic 5W-30 pours nearly 18 degrees Farenheit lower than regular oil. Mobil1 5W-30 pours @ -52 degrees below 0 Farenheit. Cold starts is where 80% of all engine wear occurs. It's to your advantage for the oil pump to force as much volume of oil to critical engine parts as quickly as possible. More volume of oil also cools frictional surfaces more efficiently. It's a proven fact that lower viscosity energy conserving motor allows the motor to create more horsepower because the oil pump turns easier.

The entire additive package is better in full synthetic motor oil. Among these are: detergents, anti-wear, anti-oxidation, and the flash to fire point. Synthetic oil is naturally more slippery so you may squeeze out a bit more mileage.

Don't waste time thinking about synthetic blend oil. It's a big scam by the oil companies to charge more for the oil yet none of them actually tells the consumer the percentage of synthetic in the bottle. Who knows, it could be as low as 1% and qualify as a semi-synthetic. There are no rules that regulate these wild claims.

If you make the switch use discretion concerning wild extended drain intervals. Since your car is out of warranty now, you may wish to use extended drain full synthetic oil only if you run a lot of miles quickly on your car. For my money I've always stuck to the car manufacturers recommendation of 5,000 mile drain intervals using regular Mobil1 in my 04 Toyota Camry. Interestingly the Toyota dealer I go to stocks Mobil1 on the shelf.

Is it legal to drive with the trunk open?

I'm buying a chest freezer tomorrow and was wondering if it is illegal to drive with the trunk open because it won't allow my trunk to close since it's big. If it helps any I live in Tucson, AZ. I drive a 2000 Acura Integra 2 Door hatchback.

admin answers:

If it is hanging OUT of the trunk, not just the trunk open, then you may have to put a "flag" on it, although that may depend on the state as well. If it is just too big to close the trunk on it(and the hatchback part gives me the idea it will be hanging out as well) then usually no problem as far as law.

Questions About Acura Integra Gsr

Helen asks…

Can i put a GSR engine into my automatic Acura Integra LS?

I have a 94 Acura Integra LS and want to put a GSR engine from a manual Acura Integra GSR into my car. Is that possible?

admin answers:

Yeah! You can also have a Automatic GSR!

Just buy the GSR motor and plug in your old LS tranny and go buy yourself a SIR-G or SI VTEC Automatic ECU and there you go!

*note... The SIR-G or SI VTEC is japan brand Honda... A.K.A. GSR

but in japan... You can get either manual or automatic... The ECU is pretty rare in the USA... You might have to go onto them JDM websites and email them if they have it or if they can get it!!!!

It freaken rare man! If they had it everywhere here in the us... I be doing a GSR/SIR-G/SI VTEC automatic conversion!!!!

Joseph asks…

whats the better car over all 1999 Toyota celica gt or a 1999 Acura integra gsr?

i need a car but im stuck picking one eather a 1999 toyota celica gt shift or a 1999 acura integra gsr shift?? im looking to see witch is faster and has a better look lol. also i will be modifying the engine and the hole outside...... what do you think i should get?

admin answers:

Both Cars are very nice cars. Off the bat though the Acura will be faster then the Celica because its a GSR and the Celica is heavy. You also need to ask yourself are you going to mod the crap out of the car or just leave it stock and make few minor mods here and there. There are thousands of parts for the Integra and there very cheap to get as well. Celica parts will most likely be rare and very expensive. Im a Die hard Toyota fan but in this case I would definitely go with the Acura if I were modding it like crazy and if you were to swap engines out B20 block with B16 head all the way. Very cheap to run turbo on Integras as well. BUT its true though do your research on your Acuras make sure its not messed up people that get there hands on Integras tear them up inside and out basically giving them the worst hell and then try to sell it to another sucker. If you got a Celica youd be pretty rare I dont see a lot of modded Celicas out there.

William asks…

How much does it cost to swap a K20 engine and transmission into a 1995 Acura Integra GSR with a JDM front end?

I might pick up a 1995 Acura Integra GSR with no transmission and no engine and wanted to know how much it would cost to swap in a K20 and transmission

admin answers:

Cost is about 1000-2000 no more for labor (not including parts you need to swap) so add anything else you buy to that price most people pay around 4-10 g's depending on how much the engine and tranny and stuff will be...packages from hasport and hybrid to swap them in are about 600 dollars

Ken asks…

How do i install cold air intake on a 2000 acura integra gsr. couple xtra hoses on motor, don't know what todo?

2000 acura integra gsr, vtec, dohc. cold air intake has piping, filter, clamps and one vacuum hose coming off one of the pipes that goes right after the throttle body. the hose that goes on that same spot on the stock intake goes to more than one spot and not just the valve cover. so i'm afraid of messin something up. please help. thank you.

admin answers:

There should be just one hose which connects from the valve cover to the intake pipe. I'd make sure you got the right intake for the right car. On the intake pipe you should have a bracket that secures the intake down and you should have a valve sticking out somewhere in the middle of the intake pipe where the hose connects the valve cover the to intake. That hose by the way isn't even recommended by the way.

Mary asks…

What model Acura Integra is the best for customization and performance?

What model Acura Integra is the best for customization and performance
And based on your answer what would insurance be (16 yrs old) and how much is the car itself.

admin answers:

Integra gsr...you want late 1900's maybe a 96 or 97.they are fast to begin with and offer good mileage too. Insurance would be a little much as it is a sports coupe but the car itself maybe run you anywhere from $3500-$5000 maybe 6 if you find a very nice one but mostly all gsr's will be molested and modded.

Linda asks…

How many miles should a brand new Acura TL have when it comes from the factory?

Im buying a new Acura TL and i was wondering how many miles an Acura tl has when it comes into the dealers lot. In other words, when its coming from the factory.

admin answers:

I used to work for a Honda-Acura dealership. When they would come off the truck, the most I ever saw one have on it was 2 miles. That is the most that any new car should have on it.
