Questions About Acura Honda Nsx

Sandra asks…

How mutch stress can an acura/honda NSX engine tack?

Wanting to put mods on my NSX (supercharged/ turbocharged/ nitrous)

admin answers:

Give it some zynax it will be ok

Joseph asks…

Honda NSX or Acura NSX?

Ok, so I've been seeing this/these cars recently, and I've been thinking, "what?" This guy who lives down the street has an Acura NSX but in movies like FaF4 there is the car Honda NSX. They're practically the exact same car, except different companies. I'll add links to show you what I mean. Thanks.

Acura- http://www.designercars.net/biler/Honda-NSX-72857.jpg

Honda- https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjANqGq9SoImyjt-s24VsVQXqFIWDxDZk4_pYzMDCyQX3zw7tA6sNQ8CPAb73h1Hcj974D2kULeHSh9w7gwkgIlcl_cVpQiKt4Xzco8f0SYfA_nMMK8qCOhDMhr3Nc1ZYXIpupx7ctTlEo/s400/honda-nsx-r-back-3_70.jpg

admin answers:

Actually they are the exact same car. In Japan, there is no Acura, which is just the quasi-luxury division of Honda in North America, so it's called the Honda NSX. That's the same as the Honda Integra. But they knew that Americans weren't stupid enough to pay $90,000 for a V6 Honda, so they marketed under the Acura brand, which was more expensive than Honda, and strangely enough, stupid people actually bought them. That's why it's called the Acura NSX in the US, and the Honda NSX everywhere else in the world.

Charles asks…

whats the difference between an acura nsx and a honda nsx?

admin answers:

Its the same car, honda is the japanese name built in japan, and acura is the american name built in america

but id say there might be a slight difference because of the fuel octane used in the states is different than of Japan, and therfore u get differnt horsepower figures, with Japan having the advantage as they use higher octane fuel

Betty asks…

What does NSX stand for from the Honda/Acura NSX?

admin answers:

"NSX" is an acronym for "New Sportscar eXperimental" when it was presented (as NS-X) at the Chicago Auto Show in February 1989 and at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 1989. Internal Honda sources say the X initially stood for unknown in the codename of the car while it was in development.

Questions About Acura Nsx 0-60

James asks…

what car should I buy?

I have narrowed my search down to two cars a Porsche 911(996) and1991 Acura NSX. Im trying to find the right car based on performance (handling,0-60, top speed etc..). How do you think the engineering of the 1991 NSX compares to more modern cars like the 996. Also how would you define the 966 porsche engine.

admin answers:

In my opinion, you are really talking about 2 different types of performance cars......the NSX is a classic, one of a kind type sports car........far ahead of its time for the year and for the money.

The porsche is a modern powerhouse with up to date handling, power and overall speed.

Both are very cool cars but I think it depends on if you are going for the classic collectors type car (NSX) or the 'get in and haul ***' type (911/996).

Personally, I would go with the NSX if it is going to be kept as a collectible........go with the Porsche if you are going to drive it daily.

Good luck and nice choices!

admin answers:

The Acura is rarer and handles better.
The Porsche is quicker and faster depending on what version. Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera S. Carrera 4S, Turbo, GT2,. GT3? There are many type of 911's. The Carrera S and Turbo and GT models of the 911 are faster than the NSX.

If it is just the 911 Carrera or Carrera 4, then the performance would be the same and the Acura would be a better choice in my opinion.

Both are reliable.
The Acura is the most reliable Japanese supercar you can buy.
The Porsche is the most reliable German supercar you can buy.

Susan asks…

Old but still good: What would you choose Subaru STI or Mitsubishi EVO?

I'd like to hear back from you all on the 2 cars. Seems like for 2006 the STI beat the EVO. I drive an 06 Scooby STI now. No mods! It's a real race car which belongs on the track. Before that i owned Vipers, Corvettes(Z06's included), Benzes(c55 AMG included), BMW's(M5 included), Cadillacs(CTS-V included), Acura NSX's, IROC-Z's, Mustangs, etc, etc, about 30-40 good performance cars in all, with more than 300hp each. Scooby is not as much fun as the rear-wheel drive cars with over 300hp, but it's definitely the best handling car I've had. Likely better than Lamborghini's and Ferrari's(never had them but driven plenty). I'd like to hear back from the serious driving enthusiasts and fans alike - which car do you think is better - EVO or STI, new models. Please check out MotorTrend test of the '06 models before you say which is quicker: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/sedan/112_0512_rally_cars/
YES, I did measure 4.5 0-60 times in my Scooby on stock tires, on the street. Thank you!

admin answers:

Subaru's always have been the race car since the mid-70's when they first came out with their line of AWD vehicles. You don't see the EVO as much as you do on a rally course. Why? Because they lack sufficient power in the tranny as well as the tranfer case and suspension. And also the 4G63T motor always has a tendancy to break ALWAYS. The Subaru's tranny and transaxle configuration give the Subaru the edge in turning at high speed and corner like butter. I prefer Subaru than any other AWD vehicle out there. I also would take a Subaru over any turbocharged car out there. The only thing I dislike on the '06 Subarus are the front grill. It is very air restrictive. But anyways, if you are looking for a good rally car or to drive on wicked roads, Subaru is the way to go.

Carol asks…

Porsche lovers: What do you think about the new Nissan GT-R?

The 2008 Nissan GT-R recently beat the track record of the Porsche Turbo at the Nurburgring and it has a 0-60 time in 3.5 sec. It is also more aerodynamic. And finally, it only costs only ~$80,000. What do you think about the Nissan GT-R vs. the Porsche Turbo?

Here's a link:
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/FirstDrives/articleId=123099

http://www.motortrend.com/photo_gallery/112_0712_2008_nissan_gt_r_gallery

Not so long ago, we thought the Audi R8 was going to get some of Porsche's sales, but now, the Nissan GT-R is a viable contender. What are your thoughts? The Japanese are bringing the Acura NSX, Lexus LF-A, and Toyota Supra here soon. Do you think Porsche needs to worry?

admin answers:

No matter what you do to it, it is still a Nissan. You will have plenty of boobs living in the suburbs going oooh-ahhh and buying them. However, I assure you that said boobs would rather have a Porsche.

I have an '06 911 Carrera 4s and love it. I'd gladly drop another $80k on a second 911 before I'd spend $40k, let alone $80k on a Nissan.

I'm currently on the road driving from Ontario to Florida in my 911, I lost count how many waves, thumbs up, honks, etc. I have received while driving. I assure a Nissan won't draw that kind of admiration on the road.

Questions About Acura Parts Catalog

James asks…

Looking for Book/s for rebuilding Acura NSX. Magazines, Catalogs. I googled already so don't give me that answ?

I tried google and other search engines. I want books specifically how to rebuild Acura NSX for my son's birthday. Catalogs for parts is okay I guess.
Thanks

admin answers:

There are no books dedicated to building a low production car that nobody wanted. Google is your friend for the information, but not for finding books. So the answer really is google it, but you would have to change the search criteria.

Joseph asks…

what year is this neon?

does anyone know what year this dodge neon is?

http://www.hondaacuraautoparts.com/honda-acura-auto-parts-catalog/images/LSD-Door-Kits-Dodge-Neon-2.gif

admin answers:

A lemon no mattah how you age it or slice it.

Michael asks…

Is it worth tricking out / hooking up a Dodge Neon? If so, how much does it usually cost?

I'm thinking about getting a SRT-4 and hooking it up. I've seen some race and they've got a lot of power in them. How much would it cost (after buying the car) to make it look hot (lambo doors maybe, shiny paint, new lights, new hood, etc). I'll have about a $6,000 budget after buying the car so I can't get all the upgrades done but I can probably get a pretty decent job. What do y'all suggest?

Pic of potential car:

admin answers:

No. Never. Spend your money on something more useful. Like an education.

Carol asks…

What is the name of the part I circled in this picture? It's from a 91 Acura Integra.?

My motor overheated and oil is spurting out from there. What is that part called? Someone told me Rear Cam Seal but they weren't sure...

Is this what I need to fix it?

http://www.thepartsbin.com/catalog/?N=9259&Nr=OR(AND(make:Acura,model:Integra,year:1991),AND(universal:1))&Vi=1562+9494+4294963791&y=1991&mk=Acura&md=Integra

admin answers:

Very good. Yes thats a cam seal. And if oil is leaking from there certainly replace it. Also note that if this one is leaking, suspect other seals aswell. Either due to the overheating or just age and wear. Many suppliers sell kits with the seals you need. All these budwieser can aluminum motors that the foreign cars are made of are very very suseptable to heat. They cant take it like the cars of yesteryear. Which directly means they break alot easier when faced with the same problems. Remember, we are paying for gas mileage nowadays, not reliability. Which is why you wont find a 20 year old honda on the road, but wow, look at that old chevy or ford go by you as you sit on the side of the road. Todays cars require alot more tlc than they used to. Consider also that if you overheated your motor, its made of aluminum, did the head warp and cause the seal to fail?? Or was it just the seal itself?? The seal itself may still be good yet since you warped the head it cant "seat" against the surface correctly now. Have a shop check your cylinder head for warping.

Questions About Acura Nsx For Sale

William asks…

Is this too good to be true? (Acura NSX pricing)?

I'm obsessed with the Acura NSX, but gave up hope on it months ago, for the extremely high prices, even on old models. However, recently looking at autotrader.com, I foundd a couple of private listings that have 2004-5 Acura NSX models for sale at about $20k with extremely low values. In fact, one 2005 model went for $20k, with about 2.5k miles, and the Kelly Blue Book value is at about $65k. So what gives?

Is that the going rate for these cars? Or would there be something seriously wrong with these cars?
Is it possible to get a NSX with low mileage for around $20k? I don't care about the year.

admin answers:

There are some NSXs around for about 20 grand, but they are moslty 1991 models with high mileage. I'd be very suspect of a low mileage recent one for that money. NSXs are very expensive to run, but it is sort of impressive to find ones with 170K miles on the market that still look okay. That's about 5 times as many miles as Ferraris from the early '90s ever see.

Linda asks…

1996 Honda/Acura NSX-t - anyone?

I lost out on a nice restored Jaguar XK-150 recently so I'm back in the market again.
One of my contacts informed me that there is a real sweet Acura that might be up for sale in the city. The owner recently passed away and the widow never drove this car.
I'm looking for information on these cars from people who have actually driven them. I have specs on the car but I have not had the opportunity to drive one before.
And what would be a fair price to start at?

Here is all I have on the car at present.

1996 NSX-T
Manual gearbox
Lift off roof
red w/black interior
custom wheels and tires -- factory rims are still there too. Otherwise the car is stock.
35,000 Km should be approx. 22,000 miles

I tried to get information from the dealer but they only interested in getting the car for themselves so they keep putting me off.

Just do me a favour and spare me the WIKIPEDIA answers. I need answers from present and past owners. Thank you.
carguy0035 - That is one nice car. Especially the rims. Thank you.

Mary asks…

They are selling the Acura NSX right?

Because i just found out they have a 2009 now.
And a new "future 2011" on the drawing board.

i heard they stopped making the NSX, but are they back out for sale again?
just wondering.
And how much are they going for if so?

admin answers:

Tetsuo Iwamura, CEO of Honda of America, confirmed in December of 2007 that a V10 NSX would be released by 2010. See my sources for photos, sightings, and additional information.

Questions About Acura Awd Cars

Chris asks…

What are the best cars that are made for modifying owned by Acura, Honda, Toyota, Lexus, and Nissan under $10K?

I am looking for something within those guidelines that is an AWD of FWD car with insurance not too high and that doesn't cost too much for repairs. I want to make this car sound sick with an exhaust and make it look ill with body mods.

If you were to choose between cars what would it be? 05 Evo MR, 05 Lotus Elise, 94 Acura NSX?

I am debating between these 3 cars right now, I currently own a 05 Evo MR, but am more looking for a track oriented street car instead of my AWD Turbo Econo-Box

admin answers:

05 Lotus Elise, even though the maintenance will most likely screw you over, its a great unique car.

Daniel asks…

Any suggestions for a car that has AWD but still gets decent/good gas milage?

I have previously owned an acura integra and a subaru outback. Loved aspects of both cars, but each have their flaws. I'm looking to see if there is a midway point between these types.
thanks!!

Audi may have what you are looking for?

Richard asks…

Why is the Audi A4 engine longitudinal?

As common with most FWD cars and even AWD cars based on transverse engines (ex: Acura TL SH-AWD) , the engine is mounted transversely. Why is the base model for the A4 mounted longitudinally, while still being FWD. How does that work?

admin answers:

There is enough space to install the motor longitudinally which will help disburse the weight evenly over the front axles to help prevent torque-steer. This also allows for better weight distribution on cornering and aggressive driving characteristics. These cars were designed for the quattro system. Installing the engine this way allows for the use of the torsion differential which is the basis of the quattro system (instead of using a viscous type AWD system like most other cars, including the TT and R8). The FWD option on the A4 can be done one of a couple ways, the CVT, the conventional auto transmission, and the conventional manual transmission. The new A4 has taken it a step further allowing the placement of the engine to go back even further by having the front axles placed in front of the torque converter to save even more space. How's that for engineering?!

Michael asks…

3000gt rv4 or a 91' NSX?

so im currently looking at both a 97' mitsubishi 3000gt rv4...and a 91' Acura NSX. both are manual....both are very sharp looking cars. the 3000gt has the stock twin turbo [comes with the rv4 setup] a set of aftermarket light covers, and a brand new set of 18" enkei racing rims, fire red, tan leather interior, it is a very sharp looking car. the nsx is a onyx black with black leather interior, a honda spec v6 i think, and im not sure if it has turbo on it or not. both of these cars will turn heads on the road no matter what [which is what we all want with our car right?]....and both can put some power down on the road as well. NSX's are VERY hard to come by at the price i found this one for especially for how close it is to where i live.....and the 3000gt is a steal. i just wanted thoughts on which i should maybe put more interest into.....i know it comes down to the driver and how the car feels along with personal preferance but other opinions do help lol. i have not physically seen either car yet except for pictures and videos of the actual cars, but i have talked to both owners via email and phone calls and they say both run great. so whats your opinion? 3000gt rv4.....or a NSX?

Helen asks…

Audi A5? Need info please!?

So I am planning on purchasing a brand new car by the end of winter (beginning of Spring 2010).

And well, I have been shopping around and found some cars I might want to check out.

Top Cars listed for me...

0. 2009 Subaru Legacy Spec B (if they still have it)
1. 2009 Subaru WRX STI
2. 2009 Lexus IS250 with 6 Speed manual (its a 90% no, I talk to lexus and they wont send me one)
3. 2006-2008 Acura TSX with 6 Speed Manual (if I can find one with low mileage a warranty at Acura dealership)
4. 2009-2010 Subaru WRX
5. 1991-2005 Acura NSX (need one with warranty)
6. 2009 Nissan 370Z nismo edition (if I can find one)
7. 2009 Infiniti G37 with 6 Speed manuall

My price range is $35,000 but $45,000 is okay(asking to much).

Just today, I was looking at the Audi Car line to check out the R8 and saw that they have a Coupe!

Its called the Audi A5 or S5??? Im guessing the S5 is faster sinces it was at $56,000 and the A5 was around my price range!

So... if you guys can help give me some info on the A5 that would be nice!

Like.... is it reliable, FWD/RWD/AWD?, How much Horse/Torque, etc...

Just tell me things that I would like to know and may want to buy it cause this car is super sexy!

admin answers:

The A5 is essentially a 2-door version of the A4. Audi has used S and RS to denote sport and super sport versions of their cars for some time so yes, the S5 is the higher performance version.

The A5 can be had (in America) with a 211hp/258lbft 2.0 turbo four cylinder or a 265hp/243lbft 3.2L V6. Both have AWD as standard.
The S5 has a 354hp/325lbft 4.2L V8 and all wheel drive as well.
Audi's are quite reliable but quite expensive to repair when things go wrong. They're great cars and they're a LOT of fun to drive.

As a side note, your list of cars is ALLL over the board. Number 4 isn't even into the 35K range, number 3 isn't even remotely sporty, Number 2 is ignoring the 350 (though lexus doesn't like manual transmissions so... That stinks) and so on.

I vote for number 5 because getting a rare/hard to find car is immensely satisfying but you may have to do more work to find a good one and keep it in good shape than a brand new but lesser car.

Number 7 is great though as an all around vehicle and don't discount the BMW 335i.

Questions About Acura Nsx Price

Steven asks…

What is a good price for a 1991 Acura NSX?

admin answers:

Depends on lots of factors but I would say maybe around 20 - 30k???

EDIT: LOL $50 and $2000 ahhahahhahahahhaa I dont think so.

Doesn't matter how old the car is. A 1985 Ferrari Testarossa probably isn't very cheap even though its 26 years old..... Any year NSX is considered to be a "supercar" class of vehicle..... I wont disagree completely though that it MAY be possible if you are VERY VERY lucky to find an NSX for 15k but thats going to be one with high miles and not in to good of shape. Any decent one would be higher that that.

Paul: Its not about belittling anybody, It's about getting your facts straight. The age of this vehicle really does not play a part in determining the depreciation of its value. In fact, sometimes, the older a vehicle gets, the MORE valuable it becomes :) wooowww :) :) :)

U mad?

I heard it was the NSX in MSN.It would be on 2009.

Carol asks…

What should I buy for my boyfriend's Acura NSX for Christmas?

I asked him what he wanted for Christmas & he said stuff for his car, which is an Acura NSX. I have no idea what to get him. It's already lowered, has a body kit & ten pounds of boost etc. Any ideas, whether it's cosmetic like floor mats, stickers, license plates or actual parts for the engine, ANY IDEAS are appreciated!

admin answers:

If he doesn't have dual Xenon headlights on his car already then maybe you should buy them, they tend to look really nice on sport cars, but be aware that these bulbs are pretty expensive but they look really nice. In Lamest terms they are the white/blue colored headlights which imitate and produce the affect of broad daylight at night helping to better illuminate the road ahead. If he doesnt have them on his car then he probably has the normal luminescent yellow bulbs found on any common vehicle. The Xenon's are found on many current luxury sedans like BMW, Mercedes, Infiniti, Lexus etc etc. Also try matching the license plate lights if you get the xenon headlights. The two Xenon bulbs at the back of the plate should cost you $10-$15 but the Bi-xenon headlight can range from $75 to $300. It all depends on the number of Kelvin (kelvin- the amount/number of brightness in the bulb) that you purchase, for ex- 6,000K, 8,000K (k= Kelvin). These are some Pics so you have an idea.

R34 or Acura NSX 1993 what would be the best?

Im planning to getting an R34 Skyline or Acura NSX 1993. I will build this from gorund up and wanna hear some opinions here if any.

Will it be easier if I go for R34?

I like the NSX due to the style I can do on it. looks more like an exotic car.

Skylines the handling is superb on it. anything else?

admin answers:

Both are a really good pick of cars as people have said the R34 is a superb car from the na to the single and twin turbo versions.

So alot depends on the car model and parts you can get for each car then it is personal choice.Looks wise as said the NSX does look very exotic and a head turner, but again tit for tat the skyline is also a head turner and a pleasure to drive.

Tuning wise i can only speak for the skylines the engines from the single turbo and very tunable and offer around 700-800bhp twin turbo offers over 1000bhp and the attraction of the skyline tuner wise is the easy way power comes from added mods mixed with technologically advanced handling makes these cars a superb car.
Looks wise there are a mix of kits out there for the skyline to change the styling.
