Questions About Acura Mdx Used 2008

Daniel asks…

Acura 2008 MDX or Lexus 2008 GX 470?

The battle for these to SUVs shouldn't be too hard because I'd have to say Acura MDX is better than the GX. And yes I went to both dealerships and testdrove both cars with my family (4 people). GX It looks nice but the model is 06. I went inside the car it was nice luxury but what annoyed me the most was how thin it was. I sat on the backseat just to check with my family and we were all cramped up. I like how the trunk opens like a door but that really doesn't impress me. The GX is like an overpriced highlander. Now MDX well hell for an SUV with 300 horsepower is nice but what in the world are you gonna use with 300 horsepower when you're looking for a family luxury car. MDX has a nice design I love it. And it is wider than the GX. The MDX also has a trunk that opens automatically by pressing a simple button on your key. And when you want MDX is a better version of the GX except little bit cheaper. They are both around the $40,000 range except the GX is just a couple of thousands more
And when it comes to BMW and Mercedes Benz. It is slightly a whole different story.
So I just need your opinions on what is better.

admin answers:

It really sounds like you have your mind made up already. Go for the MDX.

Mandy asks…

Real Time traffic Acura mdx?

It doesn't say in the owners manual... but how do you use the real time traffic feature on the navigation system of the 2008 acura mdx, I have xm satellite radio ( I have also gotten the 1 year service) and full navigation operations.... I understand that there is real time traffic but how do i get to it??

admin answers:

We went over this twice already and I've said twice, getting the best answer twice, that it is not included w/ the 3 month subscription with the radio.

Linda asks…

In car DTV suggestions?

I just purchased a new Acura MDX 2008 with the back seat DVD player. Since it has composite in i thought i could get one of those DTV converters with composite out and use that with my coupon for $40 off. I was thinking of putting it in the floor compartment of my trunk. I was gonna run some cable for the IR receiver and composite. Also I'm gonna make a cigarette lighter to 5V power adapter too. (Yes i work well with technology) Since the Antenna will most likely be hidden and the box will be too, what are your suggestions for the box/ antenna? I was thinking just the Dish DTVPal (TR-40) with traditional bunny ears. I'm just wondering if that would work fine for driving around the city or if i should get a different box/ antenna for heat.

admin answers:

Sure! Sounds right to me.

Laura asks…

Does the new 2008 Honda Pilot have Bluetooth Technology?

Hi all, I have the new 2008 honda pilot, it has everything equipped except navigation system.
It has leather seats, fog lights, sunroof and rear DVD entertainment system.
My question is, does the car have Bluetooth technology so I can talk hands free without using my cell phone.
The Acura MDX does, and honda owns Acura and so the Honda Odyessy and the Honda Pilot is more expensive than the Odyessy.
Please let me know, Thanks so much.
Here is a pic of a 2008 honda Pilot incase you need one.
http://imgup-lb.automotive.com:8080/files/6455083.w640.jpg
If you tell me to look in the car manual, what would it be under in the index?
If you tell me to look in the car manual, what would it be under in the index?

admin answers:

The new 2009 Honda Pilot has Bluetooth hands free link. The 2008 pilot did not have it.

Only the 2008 Accord and the 2008 Odyssey had Bluetooth. It is listed in the owners manual under Bluetooth hands free link. There is no listing in the 2008 Pilot owners manual for Bluetooth

hope that answers your question

Questions About Acura Cars 2009

Michael asks…

What is a better choice on cars? A 2006 Acura TL or a 2009 Nissan Altima?

I can get a 2006 Acura TL that has about 30,000 miles on it for about 21,000 or I can get a brand new Nissan altima around $25,000...

admin answers:

Both good, the TL is not a competitor with the Altima...it's a whole different animal.. TL has more features, higher performance tuned, and more luxurious. 30,000 is great too, barely been used.

I'd err on the side of the used car...While Nissan's are great (I drive one), as soon as your drive off the lot the car will be worth a lot less. Cars lose about 20% of their value in the first year (Altima will be worth about 20,000 in 2010).

Not to mention, at the end of the day, the TL is a lot sharper looking than the Altima.

William asks…

First Car- 2009 Nissan Maxima vs. 2009 Acura TL?

I am turning 16 and I need help picking a car. I am either getting a 2009 Nissan Maxima or a 2009 Acura TL. They both almost have all the same features. They are both 38,000 which is my limit. Please tell me which one you would choose and why. By the way do not criticize me for getting these cars I know how much insurance is going to be and we can afford it. Please and thank you!

I realize that a few people want me to get a American car. They haven't realized that the American companies have not retooled yet. The Japanese already have retooled and the European companies are in the process right now. The Americans went to the government today to ask for a bailout so they can retool. They will be able to get better gas mileage, more reliability, and all the little goodies on the inside and out. Right now it's not practical for me to get a American car but when they catch up too the other companies and become equal I will buy a American car but not right now.

admin answers:

HONDAAA CIVIC.

Okay :) you can stop posting this question now

George asks…

Is a 2009 Acura MDX a good car for a 16 year old boy's first car?

I was wondering because that is what I am thinking of buying him for his 16th.

admin answers:

Too nice.

It's perfect if you are trying to teach him that you are going to give him whatever he wants for the rest of his life and you want him to live at home until he is 30.

If you want him to value hard work and experience living in the real world, you would be smart and buy him a $5,000 car and make him pay for the gas, maintenance and insurance with a after-school job.

Sharon asks…

Which is the better car. 2008 Acura TLS or 2009 Acura TLS?

The 2009 has more horsepower, but weighs more. Does the weigh over power the hp. and the handling. Also I have heard about the recall on the electrical fires.

admin answers:

That can't really be answered until you describe what's most important to you. For example, the new TL is a bigger car than the outgoing 3rd generation TL. Also the new TL brings upgraded luxury appointments. The SHAWD version also provides enhanced cornering, not that the outgoing TLS didn't corner well...it did (in tests, it out-handled the RWD Lexus IS350).

You mentioned horsepower & and hinted at power/weight ratios. I'd bet the outgoing 286 hp TLS with a 6 speed will outrun the new, more powerful SHAWD 306 hp model. The outgoing TL weighs in the 3,500 lb range, whereas the new model weighs a hefty 4,000 lbs! The outgoing Type S MT is capable of 0-60 in 5.5 sec. The new all-wheel drive is a 'mixed bag'...it adds traction, but also adds internal (parasitic losses) within the drive train...more friction from more gears means less power going to the wheels.

BTW, Acura will not release a manual transmission version of the TL until next year. And I wouldn't be surprised if the downturn in the economy delays that...MTs don't sell well.

Questions About Acura Hybrid

Sharon asks…

Trading in acura mdx for honda civic hybrid, how much depreciation in $ will mdx have?

mdx is 3 months old with slight scratches at the rear door. driven for 2500 miles
i had put in almost half its value when mdx was bought... kbb does not have trade in value for 2008 model.

admin answers:

MDXs (unfortunately) do NOT hold up well in the books. If you only bought it 3 mo nths ago, you are likely well upside down too. Did you put any cash down? Did you trade in a car you were upside down on?

If you answered "no" to 1, and "yes" to 2, you are an owner for the long forseeable future

go to www.kbb.com - look up the TRADE IN value for your car - and evaluate it as being in average condition. Then take $2000 off that and you will have approximately what your car is worth on trade.

EDIT - ah if it is a 2008, go to Edmunds.com and build an invoice for your car. Then deduct abouut 20% off invoice. That will get you close to the trade in value.

The problem with trading a current-year car is that the depreciation is greatest in the first year. As a buyer, there has to be a financial incentive to purchase a pre-owned 08 with 2500 miles and scratches. So, the resale value needs to be under current new value, therefore the big hit on first-year depreciation.

I know gas is high - but you will be taking a HUGE financial hit to sell out of the car now. The loss of value is biggest at this point.

Taking into account the difference in fuel economy, price of gas, and miles you drive, how long will it take you to break even, and recover the financial loss?

Nancy asks…

Acura TSX hybrid?

With honda pushing out their cars as hybrids, has anyone seen any information about an acura tsx hybrid?
I did google on it, but nothing

admin answers:

I agree with pjhj2006. The next gen TSX will be here in late 2007 as a 2008 model. If there will be a hybrid model, that is when it will be brought out. As for now, 22 city and 30 (or 31) highway MPG isn't going to kill you.

Linda asks…

Are the Honda Pilot or Acura MDX coming in a hybrid model soon?

admin answers:

Nope.. There won't be a hybrid Pilot or MDX anytime soon.

Honda is slated to release three new hybrids for next year though-- A hybrid Fit, a hybrid CR-Z sports car, and a Global Small Hybrid that doesn't yet have a name (but the spy photos show it strongly resembles a Toyota Prius).

All of them will be using Honda's mild-hybrid IMA system (which cannot move the car on electric alone).

William asks…

Has Honda/Acura made any announcements about hybrids in the Acura line?

I am thinking of buying a new car. It will be Hybrid. I want a Acura TL but may have to go to Honda accord to get hybrid. would wait some for a Acura Hybrid. Can't find any info on Acura hybrids or plans.

admin answers:

Honda has typically been rather quiet about an upcoming hybrid, usually only releasing info about a new one coming to the US market within a few months of its release.

(Currently Honda has hybrids:
* Insight (1st production hybrid on US roads, introduced in 1999 for the 2000 model year)
* Honda Civic Hybrid (introduced on Earth Day 2003 for the 2003 model year. It's 2nd design now for the 2006 model year.)
* Accord Hybrid (which is a performance hybrid and not a fuel efficiency hybrid, I don't recall the release date but it's not more than a year old...)
2006 is the last model year for the Insight, though, with only rumors about its replacement being maybe a hybrid Fit.)

If the luxury model line of the Hondas, the Acura line, is to get a hybrid drivetrain option, I would think that they'd do the same stealthy announce only when it is actually coming to market, like the other Honda hybrids...

As for the Toyota/Lexus thing, typically the Lexus hybrid comes out about the same time or earlier than the Toyota equivalent.
(In the US, the RX450H (Harrier) was out months before the Highlander Hybrid (Kluger) cousin, and the GS450H was out the same week as the Camry Hybrid.)

Questions About Acura Mdx Lease

Daniel asks…

How much did everyone pay for their 2011 Acura MDX lease per month?

About to lease a new MDX and was wondering what everyone is paying per month on their MDX lease. OR if you lease a TL with Navigation, what are you paying per month on that? I'm trying to get my bearings on what is a good monthly lease price compared with what the dealership is quoting me. Anyone want to share with me? I would greatly appreciate it!!

admin answers:

My first stop would be wikipedia or google for a quick reference. I actually had a similar question not even 5 days ago, but I couldn't find the answer. If it's possible, try getting help from someone with more knowledge/experience/expertise, like a professional if it's possible. This can be pretty important.

I saw a forum with this online, but I didn't have time to read it all. Try checking it out. I want to help out more, but I'm not 100% sure about the answer. Sorry I'm not much help. I hope you found your answer! Good luck! JS

Mandy asks…

Does anyone lease a mdx acura?

I was quoted a price $709 a month to lease the mdx acura. Not the sports package, but the one with the navigator, dvd, the one below the sports package. 36 months, 15k miles. the suv is a 2007. I live in NYC. Does this seem right?

admin answers:

Thats alot of $$$

Lizzie asks…

Leasing an Acura MDX?

Hi...I'm looking to lease an Acura MDX. Can anyone tell me (if you don't mind), how much money you put down and how much you are paying a month for the car? Also, can you give me any feedback (positive and negatives) about the SUV? Thanks so much!

admin answers:

You have to be very careful about what kind of lease.. I will tell you straight out that a lease through a dealer is not in your favor.. There are some tricky financing loop holes that allows them to stick it to you.. There is a little thing called the money factor that, if you are not familiar with it, can cost you a chunk of money.. Do yourself a favor.. Look up edmonds on line.. There will be an article about leasing.. The dos and don'ts.. And five will get you ten that if your credit is worthy.. They will tell you to get your lease through a credit union.. They are the very best.. Do your home work first.. Now as far as the acura is concerned.. Again, DO NOT LEASE IT THROUGH THE DEALER UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING..they will tear your pocket book apart.. And high five one another when you drive off.. In three words do this...edmonds,edmonds, edmonds.. Go there first.. Then when you understand the way it is done.. You will understand why I say CREDIT UNION.. Good luck

Mark asks…

I want to lease a new car it a 2007 Acura MDX, is there a bad side about do this to keep my payment low?

admin answers:

THe MDX is about the best SUV you can buy right now at any price. It's good looking, fast, reliable... It has everything.

Lease it if you like to change after 3 to 4 years.

If you can make a good estimate of the mileage you need and you are not going to go over this mileage.

If you take good care of your car. If at the end of the lease, you have too many scratches, a crack in the windshield, the leather seats are teared, you will have to pay for the damages.

But besides that, go for it. I have leased 4 acuras in the past, and never had any problems. Just an advice... Don't get over your head in payments... If you take a lease for 4 years, you are gonna have to pay for it for 4 years. If after 2 years you think it's to expensive and want to bring it back, you'll have to pay all the remaining payments in full at this moment. So it's like keeping it.
So make sure you are willing to pay this amount for the full contract. They will never help you getting out of a lease, the only way they will help you is if you want to change for a more expensive acura.

Good luck

Questions About Acura Awd

Joseph asks…

What's the recommended oil viscosity for the 2009 acura tl awd?

admin answers:

5W20. It also says on your oil cap.

Donna asks…

when will the 2009 Acura TL with SH-AWD arrive in dealers?

I know that the regular 2009 Acura TL without SH-AWD is available in dealers already but i want to get my mom the top of the line. Nothing less. and btw if this helps I am in the Miami, FL area.

admin answers:

It is available right now :]
but the acura tl type s comes out late late fall 2010

Donald asks…

What should i get Toyta rav4 v6 4x4, infiniti fx35 AWd, or 07 Acura MDX AWD?

i have three cars to choose from but i cant pick them because they are all good cars. well rav4 is the fastest and most fuel efficient out of all of them, infiniti feels lot like sports car and acura is more high tech then all of them... but i do not know which one to get plz someone help me....

admin answers:

Infinity all the way, I love the way they look. Although you should prob. Buy the one with the best warranty.

Helen asks…

Should I get a Lexus IS 350 AWD or an Acura TL SH-AWD Both 2010 Models?

I personally like the TL, but the exterior is soooooo ugly!
So that leaves me to the next choice a decent looking Lexus IS 350 AWD, but the interior space is smaller than the TL!
Yea hard to choose, give me some advice plz peoples! :D

admin answers:

I would go for the Lexus, as well, only because the TL is so ugly.

Have you considered the Infiniti G37x? A little less expensive than the Lexus, more standard horsepower and way more attractive than the TL.
I really wanted the TL, as well, but couldn't get past its ugliness.
I ended up buying a 2009 Infiniti G37x

Questions About Acura Mdx 2012

Lizzie asks…

Acura MDX 2012 vs competition?

I am close to buying an MDX and want to hear from current owners. Pros & Con's and any other vehicles I should also consider before I purchase.

admin answers:

Acura MDx is a great overall suv in its class. It has 7 seats (although the back seats are very small). The only downfall of getting a 2012 acura mdx is that its in its final year of production, so there will most likely be a new model in 2013, and then the mdx will feel somewhat dated. Anyways other suvs to consider that are at the same level as the mdx include:
Lexus RX (Good gas mileage, bit smaller)
BMW X5 (Bit more pricey, but greater performance)
Infinit FX
Lexus GX (Bit more on gas, but much more spacious inside)
Honda Pilot (Not a luxury car, but still roomy inside, outside is not really nice though)
Lincoln MKX (ALthough you would be better off with a loaded Ford Edge since it is just rebadged and sold for more $$)
Audi Q7

Betty asks…

2009 acura mdx vs 2012 toyota highlander?

Both are brand new. The acura has never been owned but my parents are looking for a new car which would u prefer.

admin answers:

The ACURA all the way, the problem is the Toyota (4cyl model) is extremely underpowered, just check their specs, it has only 187 HPs (4cyl), even the V6 270 HPs are not match for the only offered engine on the MDX, a V6 with 300 HPs.

They are not cars for racing, however they weight a lot, so power/torque is important, you can use a car performance simulator to run test on them, try at http://www.nxgtrsim.com

Jenny asks…

What Car should I get? 2012 Acura MDX lease or buy certified pre owned 2009?

New lease is $517 per month for 36 month 12k per year with $25K residual. Or buy a preowned 2009 with 32,000 miles for $29,000. New MDX has 6 speed vs 5 speed engine and has ipod jack. That is the only difference I can see. I typically keep my cars 5-7 years but unsure of this one I've never owned an SUV. What to do?

admin answers:

I think leases are a waste of money if you tend to keep cars. The only justified reason to do it is if you: want a company car, want something fun to drive, or if change cars every four years. Considering your situation, with the monthly cost of the lease, you could own the 09. The minor differences aren't worth the costs.

At least if you own the suv, worrying about the caps on mileage and damages would be null. Dealers will kill you on overcharges at the end of the lease.

Steven asks…

I am thinking about purchasing a used 2008 Acura MDX....should I wait...?

So after driving many different SUV's out there I think I have decided on an Acura MDX. I have narrowed my search down to a 2008-2009 model. As I am looking right now, the average price I find with a technology package is around $28,000-$31,000. My question is, as I look on Acuras website, I notice that the 2012 model is due to hit the lots pretty soon. As 2012 year models become available, would this drop the price of the current 08 and 09's? I am trying to figure out if this could cause the price of a car to drop more than $1000. Thanks in advance for your insight.

admin answers:

Price of the car wouldn't change much but still expect so price drop, but since once the new MDX hit the lot, the old will also start hitting the lot, people want to trade in the old for new, so just want for a couple months and you will have more used MDX on the lot to choose fromat that time

Questions About Acura Awd Vehicles

Nancy asks…

Is Saab XWD equal to or better than Subaru AWD?

I'm researching Saab XWD compared to Subaru AWD. I've read that the XWD is similar to Mitsubishi super active yaw control or Honda/Acura SH-AWD. When it comes down to the best, in terms of Saab XWD or Subaru AWD, which is better. I own a FWD Saab and want another but I like Subaru too. I live in a state where it snows and want the security of owning a AWD vehicle. I didn't have any trouble with the Saab. It handles snow and ice very well.
No. I am not confused. Just asking which is better. I've seen Saab XWD owners say they love their cars in snow as well as Subaru owners. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saab_XWD compares SH-AWD and active yaw control, not me.

admin answers:

1) Not many AWD systems can be compared with SH-AWD in the Legend, because it also has 4 wheel steering which messes things up
2)Saab XWD systems(most of them) are based on the so called 'Haldex''.This is not really a 4wd system,it just has multiple clutches electronically controlled.
3)Subaru 4WD is evolved into demanding racing,so to me,it's one of the best along with Mitsubishi
4)The Active Yaw Control is a bit different than a 4WD system,it controls other things, its not a AWD system itself
5)If you are confused,Active Yaw Control and SH-AWD can be compared with Haldex

Verdict:Subaru is best, difference among the systems will become apparent in bad conditions, like really wet roads or even better, snow.Subaru AWD is by far better in SUVs.If you won't go off-road,Saab is already great.

Maria asks…

What SUV will fit 3 car seats?

Currently have a Pontiac Torrent which will NOT even CLOSE fit 3 car seats, may have sold it for tomorrow and we are now vehicle shopping and wow I didnt realize how much of a headache I would get -- My husband thinks getting a SUV with a 3rd row (such as an Acura MDX, GM Acadia, Ford Explorer) we will not be able to get the 3rd car seat in the 3rd row without taking the 2 car seats in the second row out (to fold the seat forward) - and I definitely am not reinstalling one or two carseats everytime I need to leave the house with 3 children under 3 .... We are not even sure if this is how the second row works on vehicles with 3rd rows, or if 3 seats will fit in just the second row (as we know 3 definitely wouldnt on my car).
Someone with 3 carseats PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!! Please clear this up for me! - Do 3 car seats fit in the second row of your vehicle, what do you own, how is it, and if you have to put one car seat in the 3rd row, how do you access it - do you have to remove anything in the second row to fold the seat forward????

PS I REALLY dont want a minivan and we cant even really have one as we park in the back alley and live in Canada where it snows lots from Oct-March and I need a vehicle with AWD or 4x4

admin answers:

Take the car seats with you when you go car shopping

David asks…

which suv will fit my needs?

my mind is going crazy wondering what vehicle i should get? im looking for a used suv just because i have a dog and i live in washington state & it snows up here so i need a suv thats AWD.

heres what im thinking of getting:

- 2004 lexus rx300

or

- 2005 acura mdx

if you had these past vehicles or you know any reasonable answers for any please let me know. it would be a bigg help!! thanks.

admin answers:

Well you should get almost any mid-sized SUV thats AWD or 4x4, but to be honest, you live in washington state so im sure it snows a lot up there, so i wouldn't get a luxury SUV like a Lexus or Benz or anything like that, just be to much of a chance of getting into fender benders or wrecks, plus the insurance won't be as much so stay away from the luxury SUVs

Thomas asks…

What SUV should we get?

We have been considering such vehicles as:
Land Rover LR3
Land Rover Range Rover Sport
Acura MDX
Buick Enclave
Audi Q7
Volvo XC90
Lexus GX470
Mercedes Benz ML500
Mercedes bend GL450
Volkswagen Touareg 2

We want something luxurious.
-Not too sluggish
-4 wheel drive, or a good AWD system, sometimes we have to drive through a lot of snow and over ice (good old Chicago) and sometimes we venture off the road (not extreme stuff)
-a 3rd row seat is not necessary but nice

We've been having a really hard time figuring out which ones we should go test-drive.

Oh yeah, we don't want to spend more than $50,000 and we don't mind buying used.

Any ideas?

Thanks

admin answers:

I would recommend checking out the MDX, ML500, GL450 and Audi Q7. The MDX gets better mileage than most other SUVs and the handling is pretty good. The V6 version of the GL450 also gets good gas mileage too.

I've heard that VWs arent that reliable, so i wouldnt recommend the Touareg. Land Rovers are alright, but they use up a lot of gas. I actually like the XC90, but i've heard that it costs a lot to fix. The GX470 is a nice SUV, but again, fuel economy. The Buick has some kind of transmission issue (its hesitant to downshift or something like that)

Questions About Acura Mdx For Sale

Mandy asks…

Does anyone have a 2005 Acura MDX for sale?

I am constantly checking with autotrader.com and cars.com for a 2005 Acura MDX with Navigation and Rear Entertainment (DVD player) package under $17,500.00. Within 300 miles of Panama City Beach, FL 32407.

My color choices are 1. White with tan (not saddle) interior 2. Light Blue with gray interior 3. Red (Maroon) with tan (not saddle) interior

If you don't have one for sale, Do you know of any other sites I may want to check out?

Please help me find my perfect suv.

admin answers:

My friend does but in canada go to canada and go to the aoheme street go left and go Straight then right then you will see a ACURA dealer.

Ruth asks…

Which vehicle to purchase?

hello all,

I saw 2 Acura MDX for sale at similar price and year.
One is a 2003 MDX with 90,000mile on it (very clean) selling for $9,000.00
the other one is a 2004 MDX with 112,000 on it (not sure) selling for $9,000.00 as well.
Which would be a better purchase ? Please advise.

Thanks,

Joel

admin answers:

The 04 will likely have some additional features on it that make it "better" than the 03 (blue tooth maybe?) I dont know enough about the MDX to know for sure what is different between 03 and 04, but Acura and Lexus try to keep their models ontop of the Technology Trends and when the next year comes out, it will likely have 1 or 2 features the previous year did not.

Check out any of the changes from a car website like edmunds or cars.com and then determine if that change is worth 22,000 miles (basically 1 year of driving).

Mark asks…

Can't decide between an Acura mdx, Q7, and Q5?

I just stopped by the car dealers bc I wanted to check out the 2 cars I have in mind: 2011 Acura MDX and Audi q7.
I like the Acura bc of it's reliability and modern style. It also feels roomy and luxurious but sporty at the same time. The prob is I heard mdx is going to glhave a face lift for 2013 and right now I not to fond of the shield grill style. I'm thinking about the mdx advantage in black. But I don't like how it's such a common car bc all my friends have it.
I love the Audi's grill and led headlights and the fact that they change to a V6 engine!! Downside it's it looks alittle too long and the price for the top of the line(s line) prestige is starting at 63k!!
That was my first choice other than the Acura. It's not as high tech but definitely feel a big difference when u sit in one. A very high class and luxury feeling!
The the sale pointed out the Q5 s line which was smaller and compact. It felt nice sitting in one with the panoramic sun roof. I was also told it was top of it's line. But downside is it's a bit smaller compared to q7 and MDX.:( the price is equivalent to mdx tho.
Any suggestions on why I should buy one over the other. Is q7 too big for a female?

Your decision should be based on what you will use the vehicle for. I have test driven the Q5 and love the ride. Do you need third row seating? Room for more than groceries? How many passengers will you be driving on a regular basis? Those should be the questions you ask yourself and once you answer them you will chose the correct one.

Thomas asks…

How much more is a used car worth with custom wheels?

We are looking to sale our 2003 Acura MDX. We can't find what any private parties are asking in our area (Oregon) but dealers are asking for about $16,500 for comparable MDXs. Ours has 20" boss chrome wheels (retails around $2000) and we just replaced all 4 tires with $150 all terrain tires last month. We were thinking the private saler's value was probably around $14,000 but how much more can we expect to get since we have the nice wheels on it?

admin answers:

10 cents more for the wheels. No one cares if they are fancy or plain, just that they are in good shape.

If I purchase a MDX in the U.S. instead of Canada and drive it home to Canada I could save $ 15,000 plus. However, the media reports that Acura Canada will deny U.S. manufacturer warranty claims in Canada. Is this a true representation. My Acura dealership in Canada says I need to contact Acura U.S..

I doubt it would be honored.

Questions About Acura Mdx Mpg

Joseph asks…

Acura MDX MPG Trip Computer?

I have 2001 Acura MDX, on my Trip Computer screen I see how many mile I get per Gallon (mpg) this number changes all the sometimes it gives me 23mpg, and it drops to 16mps, 10mpg, and sometimes 4mpg, when I reset the screen, it gives me 99mpg, and it keeps going down again, any help with this problem????????....thanks

admin answers:

It's your instantaneous gas mileage. You can use this to your advantage though, the car is telling you how many mpg's you get for the speed your going. So figure out what speeds get you the best gas mileage and stick to them! I'm sure it has a mode that gives you average mpg, but i'd rather know my instantaneous so when im gonna be driving a while at the same speed, i can adjust speed to get the best mpg's!

Paul asks…

How many mpg does a 2003 acura mdx?

Betty asks…

2008 Acura MDX fuel economy?

We recently purchased a new 2008 Acura MDX. Over the first 400 or so miles, we're averaging 10-11 mpg in fuel economy. We drive in mostly urban conditions and some highway use, but when we bought it we were told it got 15 in city and 20 in highway. So given our driving thus far, we were expecting more like 16 or 17. Did they just lie to us about the actual fuel economy? Anyone else have this issue? Is fuel economy worse when you first purchase the car?

admin answers:

The Environmental Protection Agency's MPG rating for your car is indeed 15 city / 20 highway: http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/2008selemodelf.jsp?year=2008&make=Acura

(Usually the EPA rating is indeed a bit on the high side.)

You might want to check your tire pressure. If they are underinflated, it will cost you 1-2mpg easily.

New cars also have a break-in period. You should see a 1mpg improvement once the moving parts in the drivetrain are broken in after the first 1000 miles or so.

And of course driving habits affect fuel economy immensely-- Jackrabbit starts, 70mph highway speeds and hard braking will all cost you gas mileage.

Questions About Acura Mdx Reviews

Linda asks…

Reviews on the Acura MDX?

Does anyone have a new Acura MDX? If so, what do you think?

admin answers:

According to MSN Autos, Acura MDX is "one of our top-rated SUVs, the MDX is a well-designed car-based SUV that can hold seven passengers. Ride and handling are competent. The interior is flexible, with a third-row seat that folds flat into the cargo floor."
Consumer Reports add that "the MDX is redesigned for 2007 and feels more agile than its predecessor. It is also quieter, and the 300-hp V6 makes it quicker."
Why buy new, when you can buy slightly used a save a bundle? Check http://www.motobidia.com/index.asp when you're ready to buy. You will find national selection, wholesale prices, free shipping withing the continental USA, and free vehicle history reports on all listings.

David asks…

BMW x5 versus Acura MDX versus Audi Q7?

I have been looking around the market for a new SUV. I would love to get an x5, but a friend of mine that owns an MDX says that it is much better. Another friend of mine that owns a Q7 says that the Q7 is better. They both say that it has a horrible ride, no off-road capabilities whatsoever, uncomfortable seats, and the fact that it has an interior that is so boring, you might as well be sitting in someone's ear. They get all their "feedback" from watching Top Gear's review of the BMW x6. I beg to differ. I think the ride is just like in any other car. I also own a 2003 535i, and it is great car. We also both have different definitions of off-road. They think that the car should be able to go over 4 foot boulders. I just need something that can go over a little ice and snow. I would love to get an x5 but am having some doubts about the car because of their comments. So, in your opinion, what is better. An x5, an MDX, or a Q7?

admin answers:

If you need something for ice and snow X5-X6-Q7-MDX are all bad options. Get a 5 series with x-drive or an audi in all-road version: less expensive, lighter (so more effective and safe on snow and ice).

And btw: even if we are speaking about real off-road the X5-X6-Q7-MDX are bad ideas. These cars are made to show off, nothing more. Here in Europe 80% of them are driven by upper class soccer moms that feel the need to stuck the traffic in our narrow roads more effectively when they bring their kids to school. (the other 20% are mobsters)

Joseph asks…

p.s. These two are the only suv's I am considering

2010 Luxus RX350 versus 2010 Acura MDX?

My wife and I are looking at purchasing a new SUV and we are looking mostly at the above two models. (we are test driving the RX next week)

My question is:

1. We get quite a bit of snow, which AWD system would be the better one? Or are they both fairly comparable?

2. Which one would you choose given the choice?

3. Has anyone heard of quality differences between the two? We are looking for something that long term will be fairly reliable

4. Any other views on the two choices? Are there others that you would recommend?

Thanks all
Jim

admin answers:

Both are reliable

MDX has a 3rd row seat and available dvd player

MdX has some specail 4wd called SH-AWD

MDX is roomier

I'd buy the MDX

More choices: Infiniti FX, Cadillac SRX, Audi Q5, Mercedes ML,
