Michael asks…
What is a better choice on cars? A 2006 Acura TL or a 2009 Nissan Altima?
I can get a 2006 Acura TL that has about 30,000 miles on it for about 21,000 or I can get a brand new Nissan altima around $25,000...

Both good, the TL is not a competitor with the Altima...it's a whole different animal.. TL has more features, higher performance tuned, and more luxurious. 30,000 is great too, barely been used.
I'd err on the side of the used car...While Nissan's are great (I drive one), as soon as your drive off the lot the car will be worth a lot less. Cars lose about 20% of their value in the first year (Altima will be worth about 20,000 in 2010).
Not to mention, at the end of the day, the TL is a lot sharper looking than the Altima.

First Car- 2009 Nissan Maxima vs. 2009 Acura TL?
I am turning 16 and I need help picking a car. I am either getting a 2009 Nissan Maxima or a 2009 Acura TL. They both almost have all the same features. They are both 38,000 which is my limit. Please tell me which one you would choose and why. By the way do not criticize me for getting these cars I know how much insurance is going to be and we can afford it. Please and thank you!

I realize that a few people want me to get a American car. They haven't realized that the American companies have not retooled yet. The Japanese already have retooled and the European companies are in the process right now. The Americans went to the government today to ask for a bailout so they can retool. They will be able to get better gas mileage, more reliability, and all the little goodies on the inside and out. Right now it's not practical for me to get a American car but when they catch up too the other companies and become equal I will buy a American car but not right now.

George asks…
Is a 2009 Acura MDX a good car for a 16 year old boy's first car?
I was wondering because that is what I am thinking of buying him for his 16th.

Too nice.
It's perfect if you are trying to teach him that you are going to give him whatever he wants for the rest of his life and you want him to live at home until he is 30.
If you want him to value hard work and experience living in the real world, you would be smart and buy him a $5,000 car and make him pay for the gas, maintenance and insurance with a after-school job.

Which is the better car. 2008 Acura TLS or 2009 Acura TLS?
The 2009 has more horsepower, but weighs more. Does the weigh over power the hp. and the handling. Also I have heard about the recall on the electrical fires.

That can't really be answered until you describe what's most important to you. For example, the new TL is a bigger car than the outgoing 3rd generation TL. Also the new TL brings upgraded luxury appointments. The SHAWD version also provides enhanced cornering, not that the outgoing TLS didn't corner well...it did (in tests, it out-handled the RWD Lexus IS350).
You mentioned horsepower & and hinted at power/weight ratios. I'd bet the outgoing 286 hp TLS with a 6 speed will outrun the new, more powerful SHAWD 306 hp model. The outgoing TL weighs in the 3,500 lb range, whereas the new model weighs a hefty 4,000 lbs! The outgoing Type S MT is capable of 0-60 in 5.5 sec. The new all-wheel drive is a 'mixed bag'...it adds traction, but also adds internal (parasitic losses) within the drive train...more friction from more gears means less power going to the wheels.
BTW, Acura will not release a manual transmission version of the TL until next year. And I wouldn't be surprised if the downturn in the economy delays that...MTs don't sell well.
