Sandra asks…
Would a transmission from a 1997 honda civic fit into a 1987 acura integra?
My acura has only 181000 miles on it, and is super clean. it's the hatchback 4-door. the transmission recently took a crap, and it's an automatic. I know that there are only a few transmissions that can fit perfectly into an acura integra, but since i'm thinking about rebuilding it as a manual would a manual 5 sp. transmission from a 1997 honda civic EX fit into my acura?
admin answers:
No and do you realize how much it would cost to convert an auto car to manual? Its more than just putting in a trans...

which would win in a race. civic has cold air and exhaust.
Civic:

2100 lbls est
Vigor:
2.5L 5 cyc.

Vigor hands down! Bigger engine, 5cyl which means a better fuel intake hence the extra 70bhp.

and with the car i would modify the engine and interior so it would be a sleeper so i could make more money racing it (i would make it turbo/supercahrged)
so which would you get and why?
thanks in advance
admin answers:
The Mark IV Supra (early-late 90's). Those 2JZs can really take a beating and a LOT of horsepower on just the stock internals.
Also there's the Subaru Impreza WRX of the late 90's. Very reliable and they have AWD as well which helps with handling and wet conditions.
EDIT: And don't go for the 300ZX. They're one of the least reliable Nissans and while the twin-turbocharged VQ30DETT is like the 2JZ-GTE in the Supra, the Supra's engine is a lot more reliable, it has plenty more parts available for it, and it can withstand loads more horsepower. The 300ZX is a good handler especially if you find one with four-wheel-steer, but reliability and engine-wise, it's a no-go.
Lizzie asks…
Which car to buy?...?
I have Acura RSX Type S 6-speed manual hatchback and love it! But it is time to buy a different car for my husband (his car is about to die)... So, I was looking around and really liked Honda Crosstour hatchback but it is available in automatic only(((... we both want to drive shift stick only, so the second car should be manual transmission as well
Here is what i would like to have in new car:
-5 or 6 speed transmission (no, tiptronic is not manual)
-4 doors
-hatchback
-reliable
-preferably 35K or less
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Also, I am not looking for something small like VW GTI golf or Honda fit or Toyota yaris etc.
It should be something bigger than these cars but not a wagon or van
admin answers:
-Subaru Forester or Outback. The outback comes with a standard six speed manual transmission and the forester comes with a standard 5 speed transmission.
-They are both 4 doors with a hatchback
-Subarus came in 3rd for relibility as rated by consumer reports.(Toyota 1st then Honda 2nd)
-They both got rated with excellent reliability
-The forester with the manual transmission won first place for small SUV's as rated by consumer reports.
-Subaru came in 2nd place as the secound best manufacter of cars.
-Last year the outback was motortrend crossover of the year and the yeatr before the forester was the crossover of the year.
-Subarus are very safe.
The both cost around $26000
The forester also has a turbo option with a manual standard
The forester is a SUV
