Questions About Acura Parts

James asks…

acura parts?

i have a 99 3.5rl and i need lens for my head lights well i called the dealership and they r almost 450.00 each not the pair but each one . well i was wondering if you guys knew where i can find acura parts that r cheaper than the dealership ive tried calling the junk yards and they dont have acura 3.5 rl parts. can you guys help me thanks

Obviously, you need the headlight assembly... The piece the cheaper bulbs actually insert into or it certainly wouldn't cost so much!

My OEM source of parts is cheaper than your dealer's quote but still higher than I would like to pay for... Check it out:

Of course new parts are going to be expensive, especially if bought from an OEM source. Your only other resource is to enlist the services of one or more used part sources. These days, all the wrecking yards subscribe to a parts locator service. This online service lets you type in all the details of the parts you need and then forwards the request to all member wrecking yards. The ones carrying your part put together a quote and email it back to you. Pretty convenient really. I've bought some parts this way and was happy to find it works rather well.

Linda asks…

What is the cheapest website for high quality honda/acura parts?

I am looking for parts for my acura legend and my honda element.

When you consider that a Honda lasts longer than practically any other car, Honda parts sometimes make the most sense. All my Hondas have lasted more than 300,000 miles and without costing me an arm and a leg. Each time I replaced parts with aftermarket parts, I ended up replacing them again and again. Believe me, I was certainly sorry I bought a remanufactured alternator thinking it would save me money... Sure, it saved me money alright but boy was I glad it came with a lifetime warranty! Three units later and a heated discussion with the shop manager over how it wasn't my car eating alternators and I finally got an alternator that lasted. It just wasn't worth it.

Suspension parts are particularly prone to wear when they aren't Honda parts.

So, if you are prepping a car to sell it, going with aftermarket parts makes sense. If you plan to repair the car to keep for yourself, original Honda parts will serve you better. Here's where I get mine:

Robert asks…

Are factory parts required or will any do my 08 Acura TL?

Yea, I need to replace the air filter and cabin air filter on my 2008 Acura TL 3.2 V6 liter engine. Now I know Acura parts are better but can I install a different brand air filter and cabin air filter, or will not perform the same?

Thanks

admin answers:

Well if it were electrical parts of any kind or eingine/tranmision parts then i would say stick to factory. However air filters are air filter. A little secret you may not know is alot of those air filters are acually made by the same companies that make the ones you would find at auto zone or napa. Now if you can afford it k&n has the best oem replacment filters out thare. But chances are since you are askin gabout non factory parts ure probly on a quest to save some money. But the answer is it dosent relly matter on air filters or cabin filters. Only a very few car manufacturers even make their own filters. Usualy they get purailator or wkm or 3m or wkm. Filters and just put their name on it and charge you more for it. Not always. Toyota makes all their own parts. But honda/acura dose not. Even oil filters arent always made by the oem. Example mopar filters (chrylser/dodge) are made by purilator. You go to advanced auto any but the 4 dollar purilator filter and then go to the dealer and buy the 15 dollar mopar filter. Go home and cut em open. The insides are identicle. Cheap maintnace parts like filters. Are acceptable to cheap out on because the chances are your getting the same product anyways. Maybe a diffrent color. But thats it.

Thomas asks…

Where can I get Cheap Acura Spare Parts for Repairs? Online?

I need to know what resources are available as a do-it-yourselfer to manage and maintain an Acura...I am thinking of getting a used TL or TSX but am concerned that since its a luxury brand the cost of spare parts will be too high.

I know there must be warehouses or online resources or somewhere to get parts and repair guides without getting screwed by the dealer.

I appreciate any ideas...Thanks!

admin answers:

Acura parts are basically Honda (Accord and TSX..very similar) and Acura is probably the most reasonable for spares out of the luxury brands. Stay away from European carmakers if you want reliability and semi-affordable parts (BMW...Mercedes...forget it).
